With a diverse career spanning over twenty years, Carrie began in the Public Relations field in San Jose, CA during the early 1990’s high-tech boom. A few years later, she took her PR skills to the ski industry, working for POWDR Corporation in the small town of Truckee, CA. Ultimately, Carrie settled back in the Bay Area, taking a management marketing and public relations role at Corte Madera based Restoration Hardware. It was during this time that Carrie was awakened to the rich and fascinating wine culture practically in her backyard, and she began to focus her free hours each day toward expanding her wine education and industry knowledge. Carrie joined the Foster’s Wine Estates (now Treasury Wine Estates) Public Relations team in 2006. She was quickly given the opportunity to work with numerous world-renowned brands (including: Beringer Vineyards, Chateau St. Jean, Souverain, Penfolds, Wolf Blass, Gabbiano, and Greg Norman Estates, to name a few) spanning the globe from Australia and New Zealand to Argentina, Italy, and the US, with a regional focus in Napa Valley, Sonoma County and the Central Coast. Ultimately after twelve years with Treasury Wine Estates, Carrie decided to start her own Public Relations business, and in 2017, Freehand PR was born. She currently works with several wine industry brands and boutique businesses based in Sonoma, Napa Valley and Oregon. Carrie’s robust marketing, public relations and event management experience (including the Sonoma Wine Auction) along with her extensive media contacts, imaginative writing and creative PR approach helps her clients get their messages to media, trade and consumers. Carrie continues to support her love of wine through education. She has participated in numerous wine and service courses and earned the Intermediate and Advanced WSET certificates. “Every wine and wine region are unique - it’s a vast ocean to explore, and it never gets old,” Carrie says. Carrie lives in Napa with her husband, two daughters and two sweet pooches.
